International AIDS Vaccine Initiative
AIDS Vaccine Development Laboratory
Brooklyn Army Terminal

The International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) is a not for profit organization committed to the development of a vaccine to cure AIDS.

The project consisted of construction of a 32,000 square foot research laboratory within the Brooklyn Army Terminal located in Brooklyn, New York.

The space was fitted out with new laboratory spaces as well as new office and conference areas. The main component of this state of the art facility is the construction of a new Bio Safety Level – 3 (BSL-3) Suite where most of the new research to develop an AIDS vaccine will be conducted.

The lab will be served with all new mechanical, electrical, plumbing, medical gases and fire protection systems and it will also be wired with an elaborate IT system so that it is capable of sharing research data with other IAVI facilities throughout the world.
