New York-Presbyterian
The University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell
Department of Radiation Oncology

H.M. Hughes was contracted by New York-Presbyterian to upgrade two vaults for the Department of Radiation Oncology that consisted of replacement of two major pieces of medical equipment – a CT Simulator and Linear Accelerator.

Both vaults located underground within a basement level had a complete renovation of the rooms where they are located that included replacement of all wall, ceiling and floor finishes, installation of new millwork, new lighting and upgrades to the existing radiation protection.

Both rooms were designed so that their infrastructure was independent from the hospital’s central plant and construction of a dedicated electrical room adjacent to the spaces was included in the project along with an HVAC system for both spaces that is served and operated by a 40 ton chilled water system.
